Got the Vroom Vroom in my name :D

For the past few year we have been making car payments to a friend of my husbands to pay our car off that was in his friends name as we were making the payments for him and we drove the car as it was our own. He just put us on his insurance. It was the means to a situation at the time where we couldn't afford to buy a car out and out. It worked out for us and we finally paid the car off at the end of the year last year.
I was very happy to get the title from our friend, now we just had the situation of waiting till the end of the insurance to come to switch it to our name.

Today was the day to get this all done. I thought for sure as i headed to the DMV I was going to pay well over $200 to get the title transfered, a new tag and get the car registered.

Well for starters, I also expected to sit waiting for a long time but they had me up at the window in 30 mins or less. Then the girl looks up my drivers license and finds that the tag from a vehicle I totaled 7 years ago was still renewable and used that tag did it as a lost tag replaced it and switched it to my new car. So that right there saved me $100. I ended up spending basically $100 less than expected at the DMV. Was quite pleased about that.

Then earlier in the day when I called the insurance agent for the car insurance, he got me full coverage for a 1/4 of what I was paying our friend for insurance and its better coverage.

So all in all today was a great day of saving money and not feeling like the system screwed me over. For a change I felt like to system worked as it should have, and it worked in my favor for a change.

The next great savings to happen is $40 less a week of health insurance :D WOO
