Healthy Options for your Family - Part 2 -- **GIVEAWAY** - ENDED

WINNER HAS BEEN PICKED
And the 5th Comment was by lulusmama, I'll send you a DM soon on Twitter.

Thanks for entering.

Sorry for the late drawing, I've not been feeling well the past few days.

This Post in Part 2 of a 2 day series

As I mentioned the other day you want low to no sugar alternatives for your kids and yourself. The other day I talked about snacks that had no refined sugar. Today I would like to introduce you to a no sugar choice of drink that is quite tasty.

Hint Premium Essence Water every flavor offers a "HINT" of flavor so its not just plain water but it also achieves this without tasting overly sweet or watered down. I personally loved the Watermelon flavor. My boys were fighting over the Strawberry Kiwi lol.

It really is a nice alternative to soda, juice or powdered drinks. All of which have refined sugar or unhealthy sweetener alternatives. Hint comes in 10 different flavors Watermelon, Honeydew Hibiscus, Blackberry, Mango-Grapefruit, Pomegranate-Tangerine, Lime, Raspberry-Lime, Pear, Cucumber & Strawberry Kiwi.
You can find Hint Blackberry in Starbucks nationwide and all flavors in most of your high end grocery stores.

Hint has been nice enough to provide me with a sample box of  6 of the flavors so I was able to write this review. They also are providing me the opportunity to offer 1 of my readers this same sample box.

You will receive a box with 6 full size 16 oz bottles of the 10 flavors, the 6 I received were Watermelon, Blackberry, Mango-Grapefruit, Pomegranate-Tangerine, Raspberry-Lime & Strawberry Kiwi.

Healthy Options for your Family - Part 1 -- **GIVEAWAY** - ENDED

WINNER PICKED AT RANDOM

And the 14th Comment was by lulusmama, I'll be sending you a DM soon on Twitter.

Thanks for entering.

Sorry it was a little late, not feeling well the past few days.

This post is Part 1 of a 2 day series of posts.

When your kids come home, or even when you come home don't we all want something to snack on while we wait for dinner to get started. Wouldn't it be nice to have something around that you know is not going to leave you loaded down with sugar for the evening.

I know for one I in the past have gotten the kids granola bars or other things I thought might be a good option but I've now been introduced to a new bar for snacking.

Wings of Nature Organic Health Bars, these are loaded with nuts and seeds and with just the right amount of natural syrups for a sweet taste. These have completely no refined sugar, any sugar in them comes from the fruits and nuts alone. They are gluten free and trans fat free. Low in sodium, vegan / dairy free/ cholesterol free No GMO, no preservatives or additives. Certified Organic and Kosher.

They offer 3 flavors, Cranberry Crunch, Almond Raisin and Espresso

The Cranberry Crunch Bar had a nice light fruity flavor, there is a definite hint of Cranberry along with an overall mix of nut flavor.

The Almond Raisin Bar had just an overall nut flavor, couldn't distinguish a certain nut but could taste a hint of raisin for sure.

The Espresso Coffee Bar would be a total fav for coffee lovers for sure. Nice strong roasted coffee flavor, with a bit sweet hint from the Cocoa Liquor.

I actually loved these bars and want to get more for sure, my 15 yr old son loved them also. My 7 yr old liked the Cranberry Crunch Bar but the Almond Raisin he kinda shrugged his shoulders. I wasn't even going to try the Espresso on him lol.

The folks at Wings of Nature were so nice as to send me these samples to review and they also are offering 1 Reader a pack of 3 bars.

The Results Are In and.........

The drs diagnosis is, "Anxiety". The 2 week stretch of wearing a heart monitor and recording the flip flops in my chest that I have been feeling was nothing, it showed absolutely nothing wrong. My blood work for my thyroid also nothing wrong. Everything is fully normal.
He said if my job and family are that stressful to me and I feel I need something that I should go see my family dr and he should be happy to prescribe something. (yes please prescribe me a dose of i don't wanna care anymore LMAO)

So on that note I'm very happy to know this and hoping knowing this alone will make the flip flops in my chest go away LOL.

I also am thinking I'm gonna start exercising knowing that my ticker can sure as heck handle it LOL.

Now hopefully with that can get back to my little ole neglected blog.

Update to the Scary Stuff

Well the results of the Stress Test and Echocardiogram were both negative to anything seriously wrong. They actually showed nothing wrong.

The weekend before going to see the cardiologist for a follow up however I was having these massive heart flutters or some sort of spasm in my chest that kept taking my breath away. When I explained them to the Cardiologist he decided to put a heart monitor on me for 2 weeks to see if they could catch what is going on. So far this Thurs will be 1 week and I still don't think I have recorded any data significant to what is going on. I however am sick on having these pads stuck to me they are leaving me with horrible sore spots.

My 5 yr old got his first super star mark yesterday and actually got Treasure Box. I was so proud of him I baked him a cake LMAO.

Lets hope he can do it again today. :)

Getting Down to the Dark and Scary of Life

Well I know I have not posted much in the past few weeks since the kiddos went back to school and I have good reason even though posting something might have been better medicine then sitting muddling in my own thoughts.

On the 18th when the kids started back I went to our regular Dr which actually was my first visit with him. We had a nice long discussion about family history (My father passed away at 33 of Congestive Heart Failure - technical term used as cause of death Cardio Myopathy), and some past weird things going on with me. (ie. Heart flutters, swelling legs for no reason). They did an EKG in the office and a chest XRay. The EKG was normal but my heart was slightly enlarged. My Dr decided the best thing would be to get me set up with a cardiologist to start getting me checked out. So that following Fri I was able to get in to see the Cardiologist which let me tell you I don't think I like him. He talks 90 to nothing. Anyways that whole week leading up to seeing him I started having mild chest pains everyday while at work. By the time Friday came they did another EKG and that came up abnormal.

So Dr Cardiologist does up and order for a stress test and an echocardiogram to be done as soon as possible. So that now brings us to last Weds, I was at the hospital at 6:30 AM for registration and got started at 7 AM with an IV getting stuck in my arm and then injected with Diodes for the stress test heart scans. At 8 AM they did my first resting scan. At 8:30 I was supposed to start getting preped to be on the treadmill but this is where the fun begins.

The scheduling at the hospital scheduled my portion of the stress test with a Dr that was not scheduled to be at the hospital that day. The first Dr to be there for stress test was not going be arriving till 10:30. So here I am with an IV port in my arm and stuck now at the hospital for 2 hrs with nothing to do besides watch TV. Once 10:30 came around everything got back underway as planned, I still however did not get out of the hospital till 1 PM. Mind you all this time I had not been able to eat either.

On Thurs I call my Cardiologists office to try and get in to see him Friday afternoon to only find out he only is in the office from 9AM to 11 AM, I mean honestly what type of hrs are those really? So since I can't go at all next week now because of my boss being out of town the next closest appt I can have is the 19th. I started getting very upset by this time and am like "Great so I have to wait 2 weeks to even know if I'm OK or not?" to the girl scheduling me. I get a very quick hold on ma'am please calm down. She puts me on hold and I get this super nice nurse on the phone who quickly and gladly trys to see if my results are ready from the hospital which they were not. So we are now left with waiting to call her back on Tuesday to see if they are available yet. She did however leave me with one good thought that if anything were seriously abnormal they would have rushed the results.

SOOOO thats the scary going on in my world. More stress everyday. I now have a bottle of Nytroglycerin just in case. I haven't taken any yet but I've had a few occasions I've sat and wondered if I should.

Now the dark of my life is my 5 yr old who will not, will not, will not listen to his teacher or respect her. He is yelling at her, stomping his feet. Throwing temper tantrums in Time Out. Arguing with her. Now yes he does this stuff at home SOMETIMES!!! but we correct it and tell him that is not how he is to act now 2 weeks into school and all hell has broke loose.

ITS NO WONDER WHY I AM IN THE STATE I AM.

When saying something is copied is taken to far

I recently took on a writing task over at Helium.com about the Health Benefits of Pomegranate Juice. In the entire article there was only 2 paragraphs that I used from another source on the internet just because there wasn't really anyway to put the information, however the rest of the article was fully wrote by me from what information I read. Well they deleted the article saying it was plagiarized.

Here is the article the 2 sections in red are what I copied.

The pomegranate is a large, seedy red fruit, slightly larger than an orange. Centuries ago the fruit was grown on shrubs and small trees in southwestern Asia; over time it came to be cultivated by the growers of California.

In recent years studies have been showing that the natural antioxidants found in pomegranates can help with many ailments especially in the heart, it can help lower your blood pressure, it can help you raise good cholesterol and lower bad cholesterol and it may even prevent plaque buildup in your arteries and helps reduce buildup that may already may be present.

It has been shown that it helps with patients with Ischemic Heart Disease; it was found that in patients drinking pomegranate juice, oxygen deficiency to the heart during exercise was significantly reduced.

It has also been shown to help cancer patients, such as men being treated for Prostate cancer it has shown that men that drank 8 oz of pomegranate juice a day extended the average doubling time of Prostate specific antigen from 15 months to 54 months.
In studies done in Israel it has also shown to destroy breast cancer cells while leaving healthy cells alone. It may also even prevent breast cancer and lung cancer from forming all together.

With everything else this wonderful fruit has shown in studies, it can even prevent plaque build up on your teeth. Which we have all learned leads to gum disease which can lead to heart disease so yet another benefit.

A new study is even suggesting that pomegranate juice may act as an anti-inflammatory for arthritis patients, they must look into this more to see how well the body absorbs the extract, but this could help with avoiding the side effects that are common with anti-inflammatory medicines that are prescribed for these patients.

One 250 ml (8.45 oz) glass of pomegranate juice provides approximately 50% of an adult's recommended daily allowance (RDA) of the vitamins A, C and E.
Pomegranate juice also provides 100% RDA of folic acid which helps protect the neonatal brain during pregnancy and a substantial amount of potassium and niacin.

Pomegranate arils (or seeds) juice is the secret inside this fruit. This juice provides an adult with 16% of their Daily requirement of Vitamin C per 100 ml serving. It is also a good source of vitamin B5 , potassium and antioxidant polyphenols.

The polyphenols you find the most of in the pomegranate juice are the hydrolysable tannins called punicalagins which are what has the properties of getting rid of free radicals in your system. They are absorbed into the body and may even have a dietary value as antioxidants.

This is not to say that Pomegrante Juice is a cure all, but it should tell you that it would certainly be a great addition to a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables. It does give you a good percentage of your Recommended Daily Allowance of many vitamins which is why it helps with so many health problems.

This is also not to be used in lew of speaking with your Doctor, it is also suggested to speak with your Doctor before adding Pomegranate Juice to your daily diet if you are already on different medications or vitamins as it may interfere with your treatment you are already following.

Please let me know what you think and if my article has been found useful let me know also.
