Motorcycles

We have all seen this sticker I am sure. And for the most part most of us are all for what it stands for. My Father and My Uncle both loved riding their motorcycles and at the same time managed to ride abiding the law and not endangering others by driving them like a crazy person. As is the case for I would say about 30 - 40% of people who ride them.

What I find funny about this saying is the other 60 - 70% who like to include themselves in that statement drive like total assholes. I'm sorry just because you are driving something that is an 1/8 of the size of the other vehicles on the road does not give you special exemptions and permissions to do some of the most insane and dangerous things imaginable.

We drive a long length of the interstate daily and see some of the craziest stunts from people on motorcycles. And no I am not lumping everyone into one category, I realize there are some people who drive as they should and treat it as any other vehicle, and I'm sure this other percentage that drive crazy probably drive just as bad in a car.
Its just sometimes hard to get behind such a decent cause when there are so many that make that group look bad. I'm sorry the stunts alot of them pull they deserve to have whats coming to them.

There was an accident here in Orlando one day where a lady was in a turn lane waiting to cross the highway and this motorcycle coming down the highway driving over 100 mph looses it hits the minivan in the side while she was sitting waiting to cross and killed all her children in the car. But you don't really hear of these stories where the motorcyclist was at fault because he was being stupid. Its always the other way around.

I'm sure I might get flamed for this post but I see it too often driving the interstate, motorcycles driving down the center of cars, or on the shoulder, speeding in and out around cars just because they feel they can. And yet we are the ones that are suppose to look out for them when they are driving like that. They need to look out also for themselves and others.

Thanks for hearing my rant,

APPLE SERIOUSLY WHATS IT TO YOU!!!

06/29/10
Ok so yesterday involved quite a bit of fussing and whining and really just being bratty and this was all from me not the soon to be 7 yr old LMAO

Ok so yes I have a jailbroken iPhone, seriously anyone who doesn't want to be on AT&T crappy service basically does because the service is crappy there the phone however is not and works PREFECTLY fine on other services ie. T-Mobile. Where I have happily been for quite some time now.

Well yesterday my poor phone decided to have a melt down and is now stuck in a boot loop that I can not recover from because now to restore to a new firmware I must wait for the genius people who manage to figure these jailbreaks out. Bless them so :)

But yes yesterday was me whining and crying because I really felt like my phone crapping out like that I lost a best friend lol, its there with me all the time it keeps me entertained, it helps me communicate all the time and now its sitting on a charging waiting. Waiting for a chance to revive to a new operating system.

So again I ask WHATS IT TO YOU APPLE, why do you care where we take your precious iPhone. If we pay for it why do you care AGGGH. The last I heard your friggin contract ended with AT&T stop kissing their ass. Spread the love around some go to other companies. Believe me Steve, T-Mobile would be very happy to hang from your !@#$@ also.

06/30/10
Ok so I started this post yesterday thus the date at the top, still no luck its stuck in this horrid boot loop with no hope still until the wonders that be of smart hackers get 4.0 jailbroke for my version sigh.

Still down troddin, and have not slept well imagining walking in the office and seeing something different.

Einsteins definition of insantiy "Doing the same thing over and over and expecting something different." Yes I can see that LMAO

Now don't let this make me sound like I'm just obsessed with my phone but yeah I text alot, and I use it to keep notes and it has all my contacts and I'm sorry my crappy little cheap nextel for work just does not cut it for these things LMAO.

SIGH

Back to Work just figured I'd finish this post before I did actually get the phone back up and working lol.

Getting Down to the Dark and Scary of Life

Well I know I have not posted much in the past few weeks since the kiddos went back to school and I have good reason even though posting something might have been better medicine then sitting muddling in my own thoughts.

On the 18th when the kids started back I went to our regular Dr which actually was my first visit with him. We had a nice long discussion about family history (My father passed away at 33 of Congestive Heart Failure - technical term used as cause of death Cardio Myopathy), and some past weird things going on with me. (ie. Heart flutters, swelling legs for no reason). They did an EKG in the office and a chest XRay. The EKG was normal but my heart was slightly enlarged. My Dr decided the best thing would be to get me set up with a cardiologist to start getting me checked out. So that following Fri I was able to get in to see the Cardiologist which let me tell you I don't think I like him. He talks 90 to nothing. Anyways that whole week leading up to seeing him I started having mild chest pains everyday while at work. By the time Friday came they did another EKG and that came up abnormal.

So Dr Cardiologist does up and order for a stress test and an echocardiogram to be done as soon as possible. So that now brings us to last Weds, I was at the hospital at 6:30 AM for registration and got started at 7 AM with an IV getting stuck in my arm and then injected with Diodes for the stress test heart scans. At 8 AM they did my first resting scan. At 8:30 I was supposed to start getting preped to be on the treadmill but this is where the fun begins.

The scheduling at the hospital scheduled my portion of the stress test with a Dr that was not scheduled to be at the hospital that day. The first Dr to be there for stress test was not going be arriving till 10:30. So here I am with an IV port in my arm and stuck now at the hospital for 2 hrs with nothing to do besides watch TV. Once 10:30 came around everything got back underway as planned, I still however did not get out of the hospital till 1 PM. Mind you all this time I had not been able to eat either.

On Thurs I call my Cardiologists office to try and get in to see him Friday afternoon to only find out he only is in the office from 9AM to 11 AM, I mean honestly what type of hrs are those really? So since I can't go at all next week now because of my boss being out of town the next closest appt I can have is the 19th. I started getting very upset by this time and am like "Great so I have to wait 2 weeks to even know if I'm OK or not?" to the girl scheduling me. I get a very quick hold on ma'am please calm down. She puts me on hold and I get this super nice nurse on the phone who quickly and gladly trys to see if my results are ready from the hospital which they were not. So we are now left with waiting to call her back on Tuesday to see if they are available yet. She did however leave me with one good thought that if anything were seriously abnormal they would have rushed the results.

SOOOO thats the scary going on in my world. More stress everyday. I now have a bottle of Nytroglycerin just in case. I haven't taken any yet but I've had a few occasions I've sat and wondered if I should.

Now the dark of my life is my 5 yr old who will not, will not, will not listen to his teacher or respect her. He is yelling at her, stomping his feet. Throwing temper tantrums in Time Out. Arguing with her. Now yes he does this stuff at home SOMETIMES!!! but we correct it and tell him that is not how he is to act now 2 weeks into school and all hell has broke loose.

ITS NO WONDER WHY I AM IN THE STATE I AM.

Web Design / Hosting Woes

If anyone has ever scrolled all the way to the bottom of my blog, they would have seen a link to my web design website. I'm not so much into doing that anymore but I do still provide hosting to my few clients that are mainly friends. Well recently they seem to be dropping like flies, one of them canceled her payments on paypal and wants to let her site go. Another one of my friends who has 3 sites hosted with me is terrible to get my monthly payments out of.

Two others pay me annually so they are great but the problem lies that I pay for the full hosting monthly myself and I'm finding it harder and harder to come up with $20 a month for this extra expense that is really other peoples service. Yes I use a portion of it for my own personal online storage and my small site but still paying $20 a month is ridiculous for what I use it for.

I'm ready to send my friend who has the 3 sites to Godaddy and see how long he keeps his sites up and running with them with how he likes to pay.

Then its just a matter of how to get the other 2 that I host over to another host, but since they paid me in full for a year back in March its my responsibility to make it a smooth transition without them having to pay more SIGH.

I just don't know how I'm going to handle this because my bills are piling up, I don't have that money anymore to put out to move them. I suppose I can try and hold out till their renewal time is up and have them do the transition then.

I just really want to be done with web design. This whole blog designing I'm liking but beyond that NAH.

So heres the deal if you need hosting and paying between $2.95 and $6.95 sounds fair, check my site out. If I can get more people to host with me then I can justify the $20 a month.

http://www.designsbycarolann.com

You get way personal customer service from me and the company that has the servers are great with their response time to issues and they are right here in Orlando.

Shoot me a line if your interested.

Subway Points Update

This morning I finally had a response to the email I sent to corporate. All they are saying sorry but use them by your house. Well I'm sorry Subway but it is still a slap in the face.

" I'm sorry for the confusion regarding the "points" that you've collected at the Subway near your house in Winter Haven.
Every Subway location is a franchise and the stores in the Winter Haven area are not owned by DiPasqua Enterprises. DiPasqua owns 89 stores in the Orlando area and we are not doing the "points" program that the owner of the Winter Haven stores is running.
Not every Subway store participates in the same promotions or sales at the same time. Since the "points" you've accumulated were earned in the Winter Haven area, you will probably have to redeem them in the same area. You can call the store near your house and find out what other locations will redeem them for you. "

WTF Subway Points cards GRRRRR

I have a subway card that I got from a subway by my house, since subway started their $5 footlongs I've built up 82 points YEA so if anyone is familiar with their point system that equates to that I have spent $82 with them. Ok so I go to the subway by my job and get told they don't honor the points on cards just cash on the subway cards. WTF man. That was a total slap in the face. I left and didn't buy a sandwich there. Went down the road to a local convenience store and go a sandwich there instead.

Anyways really though WTH I'm told I'm earning points with each purchase, I go to the subway I've been saving points up to use them at and am told I can't use them. MAN

SO anyways i'm contacting corporate, something seems fishy.

Going out on your anniversary with kids

Ok so as my previous post stated today is our 6th wedding anniversary, i nudged and nudged to go out for dinner tonight even if it required taking the kids since we had no one to watch them. We went to Sonny's as that was one of the choices I presented hubby LOL. The kids were slightly tolerable but everyone around us was terrible. Its amazing how civilized people have forgotten how to act like they are civilized.

We had a family behind us that the husband got up and went out to the car with his kid and their to go boxes and left his wife who was on a cane and either his mother or her mother who is also on a cane to fend for themselves. The waitress helped the younger woman out by moving the table after she had just requested 50 million things of this poor waitress and then the nice waitress also helped the older woman up.

Next we have this loud outspoken family over a few tables from us and they are harassing the waitresses and then have the nerve to sit and hold up a piece of meat from their plate making a huge loud deal about if it was a piece of a rat. I mean hello, kidding or not there are people eating. Thankfully we were basically done. My hubby was just waiting for his last reorder.

Then to complete this wonderful evening our waitress started rushing us out of the restaurant and it wasn't even 8:30 yet. She was practically just standing waiting for us to lay our credit card down with the check so she could get rid of us.

So all in all our kids thankfully were kinda behaved at least compared to the wonderful patrons and employees at the restaurant we ate at. SIGH

Email recieved Airborne Consumer Settlement - I'm kinda pissed about this

If You Purchased Any Airborne Products You Could be Entitled to Money

A Settlement has been proposed in a class action lawsuit with Airborne Health, Inc. and other persons and entities (“Defendants”).

What Is the Lawsuit About?
The lawsuit claims that Defendants made misleading or false statements about Airborne products. This includes, among other things, that Airborne can cure or prevent colds. Defendants deny any wrongdoing or illegal conduct but have agreed to settle the case.

What Airborne Products Are Included?
Airborne Effervescent Health Formula; Airborne On-the-Go; Airborne Power Pixies; Airborne Nighttime; Airborne Jr.; Airborne Gummi; and Airborne Seasonal.

Am I a Member of the Class?
You are a member of the class if you purchased any flavor or formulation of any Airborne Product in the United States or any of its Territories from May 1, 2001 through November 29, 2007.

What Does the Settlement Provide?
A Settlement Fund of $23.25 million dollars will pay valid claims and attorneys’ fees/expenses awarded by the Court. The Defendants will pay separately for other costs.
If valid claims exceed $23.25 million, Defendants will add $250,000 to the Fund. If valid claims exceed the Fund, Class Member payments will be reduced proportionally. Any money left in the Fund will be donated to non-profit organization(s).

How Much Money Can I Get Back?
If you have receipt(s), you may seek reimbursement for the receipt amount less sales tax. If you do not have receipt(s), you may still seek reimbursement for up to six boxes of Airborne products, as explained in the detailed Notice.
The Settlement does not require Airborne to change its advertising. Ongoing governmental inquiries will address such changes, if any. If you stay in the Class, you will not be able to sue Airborne for these claims.

What Are My Options?
* File a Claim. You must remain in the Class to file a claim. You will be bound by the Court’s rulings, but you can object to or comment on the Settlement. Claim Forms must be signed and postmarked (or submitted online) by September 15, 2008 by 12 Midnight PST. By remaining in the Class, you will release claims against the Defendants and their Distributors, as outlined in the detailed Notice, available below. Please read the Release carefully, as it affects your legal rights.
* Exclude yourself and keep your right to sue the Defendants. Your written request for exclusion must be postmarked by May 12, 2008.
* Object or comment on the Settlement and/or appear in Court, only if you remain in the Class. You may hire your own attorney for these purposes. You written request must be postmarked by May 19, 2008. Your written request to appear in Court must be postmarked by June 2, 2008.
Details on how to file a Claim, exclude yourself, object or appear in the case are available at the Web site, address or number listed below.
The Court will decide whether to approve the Settlement at the Fairness Hearing on June 16, 2008 at 10:00 a.m.

Well I can guarantee you I will not be filing a claim. I've tried the product before and it sure has seemed to work. Not that I totally thought it would but hey whats it gonna hurt.
Airborne did not hurt anybody so there for they should not be getting sued. It may or may not have done what it said but gees for allot of people it did so there is their study all the millions of people that bought it and it did work for them.

A trial and error, not everybody is the same.

Thats my take on it, this country is just to full of bogus, ridiculous lawsuits.

To the advertisers

This is to all the advertisers that want us bloggers to talk about their products. You know who you are the ones that think only a blog with a PR of 5 or more and has its own domain name could give you quality exposure. Your wrong, even us little blogs would be a good place for you.

Just because we don't have lots of links to us from high PR pages doesn't mean we don't have quality readership.

It would be understandable maybe not to pay us as much due to the PR but damn give us a chance.

One Minute

How can we define the saying 1 minute, sure we could say its 60 seconds. But when someone tells you 1 minute is it ever really one minute.

Its usually 10 minutes, sometimes it ends up being as long as an hour.

The same can be said for I'm right around the corner, but man that must be some corner since it always seems to take well longer than it should for the person to get there.

Well thats the end for this rant.

Tax Time

I am the one that is responsible for getting the W2s printed and to the employees on time at work. And boy have I been feeling it the past 2 weeks while I was waiting for the accountant to tell us that all the numbers were fine. Everyday I had one of the guys calling to ask when they would be getting their W2s.

Um hello guys yes I get it, you want them, I want mine too, but bugging me daily is not gonna make it happen any faster. Last I checked I am not the certified CPA lol.

Thankfully yesterday I got the call saying they are fine and the guys all know now they will get them Thurs WHEW finally peace.

I will be filing my own taxes soon, looks to be another good year, thank goodness for kids LMAO.

I'm contemplating signing up for a class to be able to prepare taxes next year. I do it on the side in a none professional sense every year using taxact.com for Family and Friends but the weird thing about it I enjoy it and think that is something I might enjoy doing the few months of tax time each year lol.

Well gotta get back on schedule so

Western Digital - TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

Ok so this starts out last year (after we got our tax refund in FEB) I purchased a 500 GB internal hard drive for my husband, it was the first time we ever bought a Western Digital product but I figured I had never heard anything bad so why not.

Fast forward less than a year later, yesterday morning I wake up and his computer is showing the Blue Screen of Death. So I shut it down and turn it back on, get it again, try and start it in Safe Mode same thing. So we decide fine try and reformat and it won't go past 0%. So I go onto the Western Digital website figuring we can get it replaced and it tells us it is exactly 1 week out of warranty but that if we can show proof of when it was purchased they will extend it to that day. We of course I had no idea where the receipt is. We have moved stuff around a lot this past year.

So I call them figuring a human might have a bit more sense then a machine with it only being 1 week. They tell me the same damn thing. "Sorry out of warranty nothing we can do" besides offer me a new drive at a discount rate. Yeah well I saw those prices on the website and for what a paid for this one its not discounted enough.

So I can tell you this much I will NEVER EVER BUY A WESTERN DIGITAL PRODUCT AGAIN.

I figured I'd give them a chance against Maxtor, at least with Maxtor I get 3 years. Oh and speaking of 3 years the same model drive we have if it was purchased after Aug 07 it would have a 3 yr warranty. PRETTY SUCKY IF YOU ASK ME.

So here is my roar to the Web DON'T BUY WESTERN DIGITAL that is unless you only want 1 year use out of it.

Current economics -- what is going on

Just trying to figure out what the heck is going on. Personally we are on a pretty tight budget right now, and it seems to me everyone I talk to lately is having some sort of financial issues. Is it just the state I live in or is it all over? Gas prices are going nuts, pay rates are not increasing enough to compensate really, home insurance going up more which makes mortgage go up even more.

I mean what happened to the days of needing a 2nd job to just make sure Christmas was nice not needing a 2nd job just to make ends meet.

Customer Service Continued

Well finally on Tuesday Evening I get a reply to my many tickets. IGNs reason for putting a hold on my card and account. The ISP I was on did not match the address on my card. ::Scrunches face confused:: Ok so yes I was at work at the time which means I was in a different town but still that is a first for me to ever hear on any website. I mean that tells me I can only do transactions at home?? Come on now. Anyways I told them that I was at work and explained the difference of towns and I now have the game but gees. It took from Friday morning when I first did it till Tues afternoon to get a reply. Completely asinine.

Customer Support

I have to say IGN.com and any of their affiliate sites lacks it quite a bit along with Sony Online Entertainment. My husband plays Star Wars Galaxies and for a long time now we have wanted play it together well we finally saw that we could get a 2nd copy of it by using a digital download and pay $10 less than if we hunted it down locally GREAT!
Friday morning I place the order for the digital download through IGNs site Direct2Drive.com first I get an error saying it the order could not be processed period, then I realized I never confirmed my email so I go and do that run the order again this time being told that the order has been placed on a temporary hold till someone manually verify the order with the instructions to email their account services. Ok done
Friday comes and goes and all I received was an automated reply to my email. All weekend goes by no reply. During this time I also send a support ticket to Sony complaining about this delay and have yet to get a reply from them.
Monday has now come and gone I have sent numerous tickets to IGNs support and have also sent a fax to the customer support fax line and have sent another message to Sony and no one has replied yet. I REALLY would just like to know why they make it so damn hard to purchase a $20 game.
About the only thing I can say is the original reply I got from Direct2Drive.com did say it might take up to 48 hrs to manually verify the credit card but gees after several attempts at contacting support you would think someone would at least let me know a human exists there.

Ok Vent Done. Comment tell me if I over reacted or not LMAO

RANT: Whiny Forum People

Ok so I'm a member of this forum called slickdeals.net, I'm new and just posted my first deal on there and sadly it was already posted, so instead of just letting it die off everyone has to point out that it is a repost. Pardon the freak out of the newbie. Everyone point and laugh. Makes me not want to share any deals I find on there now. Freaking whiny people ruin the excitement of posting something for a newbie.

UGH ok done Biatching LOL

Toodles
